Printed fabric at Future Fashion

Choosing a fabric and choosing a print should happen together. The same visual idea can look and feel different when applied to a different material. Instead of selecting fabric only by its familiar trade name, build a brief around the product you want to create.

Describe the intended use Explain whether you are developing a flowing fashion piece, a structured garment or another textile product. Consider the desired handle, appearance and movement. These requirements help the production team understand why a particular fabric is being considered.

Share more than the fabric name Where available, include fibre composition, construction, width and weight. Mention any treatments already applied and whether the material is supplied by you or needs sourcing. If you only have a swatch, ask the team which details must be established before a production decision.

Match the process to the material Do not assume that every fabric follows the same preparation, printing and post-treatment sequence. The production team needs to assess the material alongside the design and intended result. Changing a fabric after artwork approval may require the project to be reviewed again.

Review a representative sample A useful sample should represent the material and design direction you intend to approve. Discuss the colour, detail and feel together. Record any revisions clearly rather than combining comments from different samples without identifying them.

At Future Fashion, fabric selection is part of the project conversation. Send the details you know and clearly identify what is still undecided. Our team can review your requirements and discuss the appropriate preparation, printing and finishing steps.
